Guest Services Supervisor - Niseko, Japan

On our busiest days up to 70 groups of guests arriving and a similar amount leaving all on the same day, it is the Guest Services Supervisor’s job to ensure that all our guests arrive, are checked in and leave without a hitch. All the while sorting any issues that arise before they become problems.

Job Description

Organizing departures

  • Providing the guest with a final bill for any outstanding services
  • Organising the guest’s collection and transfer to the Welcome Centre for their departure bus
  • Allocation the inspection of rooms to Guest Hosts
  • Noting any damage and lost keys uncovered by the Guest Hosts

Preparing for arrivals

  • Ensuring Guest Hosts prepare all rooms before arrival
  • Arranging for Guest Hosts to collect guests from the Welcome Centre or local train station
  • Ensuring each guest is checked in when they arrive and check-in documents are collected
  • Ensure that guest hosts deliver any sent luggage to the correct rooms

While guest are in house

  • Resolving any guest’s problems and arranging recompense where necessary
  • Ensuring departure arrangements have been made for guests departing soon

Other Checks

  • Monitoring the vehicle usage, noting any damage and taking steps to avoid its re-occurrence
  • Checking the following days to ensure that there are sufficient staff to complete the collection and drop off services that are required
  • Counting and confirming cashboxes when the Front Desk closes
  • Ensuring that all the tasks our system has noted that guests require on that day are allocated and completed
  • Following up on any guests that have not arrived as scheduled
  • Checking in with Ski Valet to ensure it is running smoothly

Employment period

  • We start our staff in late October with training to give you all you need to know about working for HT Holidays!
  • Guaranteed work until early March, with the potential to extend, availability of work dependent

Pay Rate

    Hours

    • 5 days per week, around 40 hours per week
    • This is likely to be higher during peak season (including some weeks where you may be required to work 6 days) and a little quieter during the start and ends of the season

    Babysitting Shifts

    • Additional Childcare shifts potentially added into your week (for female staff) at the higher hourly rate!

    Lift Passes - Your choice of either:

    • A Grand Hirafu season lift pass at a highly subsidized price!
    • Most companies will give staff access to shared Grand Hirafu passes, these are usually kept at work so it may stop you getting first lifts on powder days! Shared passes also cannot be upgraded to All Mountain passes (unless everyone sharing the pass agrees to it). Working for HT Holidays means your pass can live in your snowboard jacket and gives you the opportunity to pay to upgrade your pass to cover All Mountain!

      Bi-monthly pay

      • Receive your pay every 2 weeks!
      • Most companies pay monthly which can leave you eating into your savings at the start of the season

        • Please see our website for more details on what we book, but this could include things like snowmobiling, back country tours, freestyle ski/snowboard lessons, transfers and car rental
        • Car rental always is always very popular, 4 seater cars for around 5,000JPY mean you can explore Hokkaido and what the nearby resorts have to offer!

        Free ski or Snowboard lessons

        • Free ski/snowboard group lessons (availability dependent)

        Incentives for guest services sales

        • Sell more get more! Last season the incentives some of our team achieved included cat skiing, snowmobiling, a meal in Kutchan and ski lessons.
        • Those roles more involved in selling (e.g. Tour Desk) will have more opportunity to gain incentives

        Familiar nights

        • Being the largest providers of accommodation in Niseko, HT Holidays are offered a certain amount of free tasting at local restaurants. These will be allocated to staff based on those job roles most likely to make restaurant recommendations. We will try and share these out, although they are subject to availability.

        Potential Sponsorship in the future

        • For most people in town, Japan is a onetime affair, 1 working holiday visa and your done!
        • For the best performing seasonal staff HT Holidays will want you back!
        • We would look to sponsor you for future seasons (provided you meet the sponsorship criteria). Typically we sponsor between 4-8 people per season, some of these end up becoming full time staff and stay with us year round!
